  1. A Change of heart

April 29, 2017 by Holly Patricia Marshall

I’m scrapping the idea of the projector.

    Why?

Well, because firstly, it’s my birthday on the day of my performance so i’d like a birthday party.

And secondly, I feel that it is realistically not going to work.

I haven’t had the time to practise properly, so I would much prefer a set which I can practise with or without and make it very polished, instead of chancing it on my tech/on the day.

After a meeting with Martin,I am also going to be scrapping the more emotional parts of my script, and instead concentrating on the funny areas. I have decided to keep it as a comedy all the way through and I think this is going to benefit me in the performance.

So, there are a couple of changes that I have decided on.

    MEGA INFLUENCE! – Sarah Millican

Sarah Millican is an English comedian.

She is a main influence for my piece. I would like to do a stand up-esque performance. I especially like the way she story-tells whilst performing her stand up shows. A lot of her comedy is inspired by relationships and the difference between men and women which I find really interesting. The way that she physically gestures using her hands and full body is something that I would like to adopt into my own performance. I think it is important to not just purely rely on words whilst doing stand up, and that the full body should be incorporated.

The following clip that I have attached is a clear example of her comedy style: mixing innocent jokes and stories and integrating them with crude innuendo and shocking punchlines. I absolutely adore this style of comedy and would like to add it into my performance.
